Experienced RO DBT and Trauma Therapy Specialist
Kelly practices with consideration of the Mind-Body connection. As such, she treats trauma in a holistic, informed somatic approach addressing underlying trauma that affects physical, emotional and mental health – and is tailored to your circumstances and trauma experience. Some of these techniques include:
Emotion Regulation
Be more aware of emotions, and find a healthier balance between emotional control and emotional expression.
Social Signalling
Teaching individuals how to improve their social signalling skills, to foster better interpersonal relationships.
Mindfulness
Enhances present-moment awareness, helping individuals stay grounded and more in touch with their emotions.
Validation & Acceptance:
Strategies to create a non-judgmental and empathetic therapeutic environment where clients feel supported.
DBT Skills Classes
Includes a combination of group skills training, individual psychotherapy and phone coaching.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT was the first psychotherapy shown to be effective in treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in controlled clinical trials — the most rigourous type of clinical research. While DBT is no longer the only therapy to have shown effectiveness in controlled trials, it has grown a large evidence base and is considered one of the best treatments for BPD in terms of documented success rates.
My focus on DBT is on helping my clients learn and apply skills that will decrease emotion dysregulation and unhealthy attempts to cope with strong emotions.
We are a 'Trauma Informed' Practice
At our practice we believe in the Mind-Body connection and as such – we treat Trauma 'holistically', tailored to YOUR circumstance and trauma experience. We also practice trauma sensitive and trauma informed care ensuring that we do no further harm, and approach your response to trauma in a hopeful and non-judgemental way.
Kelly's holistic trauma-informed approach addresses underlying trauma that affects the physical, emotional and mental health of her clients.
